Volunteer Centre Barra and CnES Community Learning and Development recently worked together on a YouthLink Scotland ‘On Our Wave Length’ youth-led research project exploring environmental impacts on coastal communities.
Young volunteer researchers in Barra were supported to research life on a remote island Mingulay now compared with 100 years ago and produce a film, with local fim maker Stephen Kearney, Little Day Productions.
The young researchers have interviewed a retired seafarer and a ranger from the National Trust to understand more about the puffin colony on Mingulay and the changes in marine life.
