Say THANK YOU this Volunteers Week! 1st – 7th June

Volunteers’ Week Scotland 2022

#VolunteersWeekScot

About Volunteers’ Week

Volunteers’ Week is a UK wide campaign that takes place from 1-7 June every year.

It’s a time when volunteering involving organisations are encouraged to thank and celebrate their volunteers, past and present. The Volunteers’ Week campaign started in 1984, which means this year marks the 38th year of formally saying ‘thank you’ to volunteers.

Would you like to get involved and say THANK YOU to your volunteers?

This Volunteers’ Week, Volunteer Centre Western Isles are encouraging everyone to take the time to say ‘Thank You’ to all our volunteers across the Western Isles.

Do you know a volunteer that has made a difference or could do with a thank you for all that they do?

We would like to help your group/organisation say a huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers on our islands.

Year of Stories

2022 is Visit Scotland’s ‘Year of Stories’, we would love to hear your volunteer stories from across the Western Isles!

You can email us your volunteer stories to mark@volunteercentrewi.org, or share them to our Instagram @VolunteerCentreWi or Twitter #VolunteerWI – tell us what motivated and inspired them to begin and continue volunteering.

Why not ask your volunteers to share a short-written piece, video, photo diary, drawing (however they want to share) of their time volunteering.

Remember word of mouth is still one of the top ways to recruit new volunteers, so hearing from someone who has volunteered with you could inspire someone to sign up to volunteer with you.

Where can you share the stories?

  • On social media: Remember to tag us and use #VolunteerWI #VolunteersWeekScot so we can repost on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram.
  • Volunteer Centre or your own website: If you don’t use social media and share your volunteer stories on your own website or the Volunteer Centre Western Isles one, email mark@volunteercentrewi.org to have your volunteer stories included!

Make time for your volunteers

No matter what you do this Volunteers Week, think about making time for your volunteers.

Arrange a time for a phone call and a chat, arrange to meet for a cup of tea or send them a card.

Make sure your volunteers feel valued and appreciated this Volunteers Week!
