Year of Stories
2022 is Visit Scotland’s ‘Year of Stories’, we would love to hear your volunteer stories from across the Western Isles!
You can email us your volunteer stories to mark@volunteercentrewi.org, or share them to our Instagram @VolunteerCentreWi or Twitter #VolunteerWI – tell us what motivated and inspired them to begin and continue volunteering.
Why not ask your volunteers to share a short-written piece, video, photo diary, drawing (however they want to share) of their time volunteering.
Remember word of mouth is still one of the top ways to recruit new volunteers, so hearing from someone who has volunteered with you could inspire someone to sign up to volunteer with you.
Where can you share the stories?
- On social media: Remember to tag us and use #VolunteerWI #VolunteersWeekScot so we can repost on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram.
- Volunteer Centre or your own website: If you don’t use social media and share your volunteer stories on your own website or the Volunteer Centre Western Isles one, email mark@volunteercentrewi.org to have your volunteer stories included!
Make time for your volunteers
No matter what you do this Volunteers Week, think about making time for your volunteers.
Arrange a time for a phone call and a chat, arrange to meet for a cup of tea or send them a card.
Make sure your volunteers feel valued and appreciated this Volunteers Week!
Hosting Events
Events are a great way to bring people together to thank and celebrate volunteers and volunteering during Volunteers’ Week (Online or In Person).
We’ve provided a few suggestions for events on the Get Involved page of the website including
Recognition/Awards Evening, a Big (Jubilee) Lunch, plus more! Resources for planning, branding and promoting your events are available on the site
